I Love What I Love
The message I am trying to send in my selfie is that everyone has something that they love, and no matter what other people think, you should never stop loving that thing, animal, or person. I first took a selfie of myself outside with a lot of negative space around me. This allowed me to have a lot of open space to fill with the things I love. I had a photo of a poster of my first Young People’s Theater show that I acted in, The SpongeBob Musical. I placed the photo near the bottom of my selfie, tilted it, and lightened it and made it more transparent. I then took a photo of my cat and placed it in some of the negative space. This allows his cute face to show more. I tilted it and made it more transparent. I next placed a photo of rocks in water and placed it at the top of my selfie and made it more transparent than my cat and The SpongeBob Musical photos. Lastly, I took a photo of a poster of my most recent play with Young People’s Theater, Into the Woods. I placed it near the bottom but on the opposite side of the The SpongeBob Musical photo and tilted it. The posters of the plays that I acted in represent my performing side of me, my cat represents my love for him, and the rocks in water represent calmness. The whole point of the selfie collage was to show who I am and to show people what I love, and that I will not stop loving them.
Forest Frost
For Forest Frost, I took 2 photos. A photo of a snowy forest and a selfie. For the selfie, I made sure that I filled the frame with my face to ensure that there was minimal noise in the background. I decided that I wanted my selfie to be black and white, so it adds a ghost-like feeling to my piece. In Forest Frost, there are no hard lines which makes the piece look more put together compared to I Love What I Love, there are hard lines which make it look sloppy. There is also noise in I Love What I Love which takes away from the piece. While editing, I decided that I wanted my eyes to pop in Forest Frost. I think that it looks really cool and much better than it would without making my eyes pop. I think that the 2 photos that I took work really well with each other.
