I chose a hairbrush because I care a lot about my hair. Every morning it takes me a while to do my hair, and I love doing it. I love doing other people's hair as well. For the hairbrush, I took a blue cutting board I had and two whiteboards. I moved a chair right next to my glass door that leads to my deck. I placed some aluminum foil on the other side of the door. I turned the lights off in my house and started arranging the hair brush in different ways to see what I liked. I tried to get a little close so you can see some of the details. Since it was a cloudy day outside, after I took the photos, I edited them to make them a little bit lighter. I wanted to capture a hair brush in a way that people usually don't see. For the photo, The Back Side, I used the pixelating filter: color halftone.
I chose this toy, Pinky, because I got this toy when I was really young and sometimes I like to cuddle up with it. It also reminds me of my old school because I got it there when my school put on a fundraising event. For these photos, I took a chair and moved it right next to my glass door. I taped some black paper on the back of the chair so the background didn’t have anything distracting. I placed a piece of aluminum foil on the opposite side of the door. I placed Pinky on the chair and tried to arrange it so it was sitting up. I love how cute its face looks, so I took a close up of its face. I also don’t think a lot of people look at their teddy bear’s feet, so I decided to take a photo of it. For the photo, One Shining Foot, I used the pixelating filter: crystalize.
I chose a puzzle piece because they are simple but with the rest of the puzzle pieces, they are complex. For me, it shows that everyone in life has a simple side and a complex side. For these pictures, I placed a chair next to my glass door and placed aluminum foil on the other side of the door. I took a blue cutting board that I had and two white boards. In A Lonely Piece, I placed one whiteboard on the back of the chair and one white board under the puzzle piece. I tried taking photos from different angles to see which one I liked the most. I really like seeing the puzzle piece from the side. For BLUE, I took the blue cutting board and placed it under the puzzle piece. I liked the idea of the puzzle piece blending into the background. After I took the photos, I edited them to make them brighter. For A Lonely Piece, I used the pixelating filter: mezzotint.
I chose a fork because I eat with a fork a lot and it reflects light really well. For these photos, I moved a chair next to my glass door and placed a piece of aluminum foil on the opposite side of the door. For Long Fork, I placed a red cutting board underneath the fork and placed my camera closer to the bottom of the fork. For Pointy, I placed the fork on the chair with the prongs facing down. I wanted to get close to the fork’s prongs and get the details of the fork. After taking the photos, I edited the photos to make them brighter. For Pointy, I used the pixelating filter: mosaic.
I chose an apple because apples are one of the only fruits I will eat and I love them. For these photos, I moved a chair next to my glass door. On the opposite side of the door, I placed aluminum foil to try to get a little more light on the object. It was a very cloudy day when I was taking the photos. For Delicious, I tapped two pieces of black paper on the back of the chair to make sure that there was nothing distracting in the background. For Num Num, I took a bite out of the apple. I took two whiteboards. I placed one whiteboard on the back of the chair and one white board underneath the apple. This allows more light to be reflected. After taking the photos, I edited them to make them a bit brighter. For Delicious, I used the pixelating filter: pointillize.
