The Cube
I chose to take photos of The Cube in Ann Arbor because it is a unique piece of art. Every time I walk around Ann Arbor, I love going there. I decided to take close up pictures of The Cube so you can see the texture of it. I also decided to take a photo looking up at the sky. In Looking Up, I was trying to convey a sense of peace while in A Little Damaged, I was trying to convey the reality of what happens to art when it is constantly being touched and is outside. I had a lot of trouble taking a photo of The Cube without getting any distracting trees in the image. But, I was able to take a nice photo of The Cube as a whole.
The Long Entrance
I took a few photos in The Law Quad. Some of these photos were in an entrance into The Law Quad. I found this entrance very beautiful. I liked the old feel it had, so I started snapping photos. I was trying to convey that old things can be beautiful. In my images, I wanted to show a little bit of rhythm/repetition. In The Long Entrance, you can see the repetition of the pillars in the back of the entrance. In Perfect Light, you can see the rhythm of the pillars and the lights. I struggled finding different perspectives to shoot from, but I am very happy with how my photos turned out.
An Old Building
In The Law Quad, I took a photo of a building that looked like a small castle to me. As I was figuring out what position I would take the photo in, I saw a rainbow over the building. So in Rainbow, I took a photo of the rainbow with the building. In that piece, I was trying to convey that the building and the area around it is beautiful. I found the entrance of the building to be very beautiful so in Enter, I took a photo of the words over the door. I had a really hard time getting a good photo of the building without getting any trees in it. I am really proud of Rainbow because I got a good shot of the building along with the rainbow above it.
Abstract Sculpture
I took photos of Stiff Box No. 12 in Ann Arbor behind the Art Museum. I decided to take photos of Stiff Box No. 12 because I want to take pictures of a sculpture and this one was the one that had the most neutral background of most of the sculptures that I looked at. I also really liked the abstract feel of this sculpture. In Get In Closer and X Marks the Spot, I was trying to show the sculpture in a way that many people wouldn’t look at it. That was the main point of taking these photos. I struggled with keeping a neutral background in the images.

Reflection
|
I wanted to take photos of the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History. I wanted to take photos of the Museum of Natural History because it is a newer building. I had taken a lot of photos of older architecture, so I wanted to have a newer feel. I also like the texture of the building. In An Odd Texture, I wanted to show the texture of the building by standing underneath it and pointing my camera to the sky. In Reflection, I wanted to show the building with the reflection. While taking these photos, it was difficult for me to take a photo of the building without getting people in it. I really like A Modern Building because it captures the building very well.
